HLTAID004 Provide and Emergency First Aid Response in An Education and Care Setting

Course Overview


This course satisfies the requirements for First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Asthma and Anaphylaxis for those working in an education and care service (child care centre). The course covers the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults. For information about this course, click here. This course covers:

  • Anaphylaxis and Asthma
  • Apply infection control
  • Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines
  • CPR techniques on adults, children and infants
  • Legal and social responsibilities
  • Incident reporting in an early childhood setting
  • Assessing an emergency situation - DRSABCD
  • Airway, breathing and circulation
  • Assessing and moving sick and injured
  • First aid for burns and electrocution
  • First aid for fractures and soft tissue injuries
  • First aid for minor wounds
  • First aid for spinal fracture
  • First aid for seizures and poisons
  • First aid for venomous bites, stings and allergies
  • Manage bleeding and extreme temperature
  • Manage head, chest and abdominal injuries
  • Manage near drowning casualty
  • Automated External Defibrillator




Entry Requirements


There are no pre-requisite entry requirements for this qualification. However, candidates must have a Unique Student Identifier and complete a LLN quiz upon entry. Students are required to do some pre-reading and complete written activities prior to course commencement.

Fees


The total cost of this course is $160. The fee includes all training, assessment materials and learning resources. Learners are required to do some pre-reading and complete written activities prior to course commencement. There is also a 1/2 day CPR refresher course available (HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation). The fee for the CPR course is $90.
