HLTAID003 Provide First Aid

Course Overview


This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.   • Assess an emergency situation
  • Airway, breathing and circulation
  • First aid for minor wounds
  • Apply infection control
  • Manage bleeding and extreme temperature
  • First aid for burns and electrocution
  • First aid for fractures and soft tissue injuries
  • Manage near drowning casualties
  • Manage head, chest and abdominal injuries
  • First aid for venomous bites, stings and allergies
  • First aid for spinal fractures
  • Assessing and moving sick and injured
  • Legal and social responsibilities
  • First aid for seizures and poisons




Entry Requirements


There are no pre-requisite entry requirements for this qualification. However, candidates must have a Unique Student Identifier and complete a LLN quiz upon entry. Students are required to do some pre-reading and complete written activities prior to course commencement.

​Duration of the course is 8hrs (9am to 5pm) of face to face training, practical activities and assessment.




Fees


The total cost of this course is $160. The fee includes all training, assessment materials and learning resources. Learners are required to do some pre-reading and complete written activities prior to course commencement. There is also a 1/2 day CPR refresher course available (HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation). The fee for the CPR course is $90.
