Are Benchmark College courses accredited?

Yes. Benchmark College is registered by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) to deliver nationally recognised qualifications. Registration details can be viewed here.

 

Do you have entry requirements?

Entry requirements will differ depending on the qualification. Go to our courses page to view individual course entry requirements.

 

Do you provide recognition for previous learning?

Yes. You can apply for recognition if you already hold the skills and knowledge required for all or part of a qualification. You may have gained these skills through formal training or previous work/life experience.

 

What facilities do you have at each campus?

Each campus includes student kitchen facilities and lounge area.

 

How do I enrol?

Each qualification has different application/enrolment procedures. Go to our courses page to view individual enrolment requirements.

 

Will I need to buy any textbooks for my course?

Most government subsidised courses including traineeships, have no additional costs for textbooks.

If you are undertaking a VET FEE-HELP enabled course, you will be required to purchase textbooks. Information on textbook requirements will be provided with your letter of offer.

 

How is my work assessed?

Your work will be assessed using a variety of methods depending on the qualification you are completing and the type of delivery method i.e. in the classroom or in the workplace. Examples of assessment methods include:

 

What happens if I fail an assessment?

All assessments are competency based. In competency based assessment there is no fail.  If you have been deemed Not Yet Competent (NYC) in an assessment task we will work with you to achieve a competent result.

 

What do I get when I finish my course?

If you have successfully completed all requirements for a qualification, you will receive a certificate including a statement of competencies which lists all units completed.

If you did not successfully complete all requirements for a qualification or only enrolled in a partial qualification, you will be issued with a statement of attainment that includes all units that you successfully completed.

 

How long until I receive my certificate after completion?

You will need to allow up to 6 weeks from course completion for your qualification or statement of attainment to be issued.

 

If I misplace my certificate, can I get a replacement?

Should you require a certification re-issue due to loss or damage, you can request this by contacting Administration. A fee of $50 will apply and is payable prior to re-issue.

 

What payment methods are accepted?

Cheque, money order, direct deposit, credit card (VISA, MasterCard, Bankcard), EFTPOS. VET FEE-HELP is available for selected Diploma courses.

 

Am I entitled to Centrelink benefits if I study at your college?

You will need to speak to Centrelink to determine if you are eligible to receive any benefits during your training.

 

Will I get a concession card when studying at your college?

Students who complete a full time Diploma qualification with Benchmark College will be entitled to a travel concession card which is included on your Student Photo ID Card.

If completing a traineeship, you may be entitled to apply for a travel concession card. Details of this will be provided at your induction visit.

 

Do you provide refunds?

If, for any reason, you withdraw from your course or a VET unit of study and seek a refund of fees (either before or after it starts), you must apply to Benchmark College in writing by completing an Application for Refund Form.

Please note that each application for refund will be dealt with on a case by case basis and individual circumstances taken into account.

 

What are the procedures if I want to cancel or withdraw from my course?

Should you require to cancel or withdraw from your training, whether it be before or after commencement, you must advise Benchmark College in writing.

If you are having difficulty with your training, we encourage you to speak to your trainer or relevant Training Manager. They can help you find a way around many problems and may be able to put a plan in place to allow you to complete.

 

Can I provide feedback to the college?

Yes! We welcome all feedback as it assists us to improve the service we provide so that it continues to meet the needs of our students and industry.

You can provide verbal and written feedback throughout your training through evaluation forms which are supplied at midway and completion of a course or you can simply phone or email the college and speak to your trainer or another staff member.
